Salus Strategies
Working with employers who care about the safety and wellbeing of their employees, MOCADSV aims to be Missouri’s leading source of education on domestic and sexual violence. Together, we can improve the landscape of Missouri’s workforce.
Salus Strategies Employment Solutions, created by the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (MOCADSV), is a unique suite of educational services designed to expand the ability of employers to handle harassment in the workplace, and to appropriately respond to the needs of employees who are also victims of domestic and sexual violence. Salus, Latin for safety, welfare, health, and prosperity, focuses on employee safety, health, and wellbeing by helping employers change workplace culture and how they respond to the effects of violence in the lives of their employees. Salus Anti-Harassment Strategy is not a typical training that prepares employers to respond to allegations of employee harassment. It’s a proactive and long-term shift in the way your workforce thinks about and responds to abusive individuals and their abusive behaviors in the workplace. Employers and their employees can change a workplace culture that supports offending behaviors and those who commit them.
How is Salus different from other anti-harassment training?
Salus is a prevention-based approach as opposed to merely a compliance-based approach. Salus takes the characteristics and needs of your particular workspace in order to create a customized experience. MOCADSV created a strategy that focuses on the dynamics of power and control, organizational culture, procedural justice, adaptive leadership, and engaged employees. This strategy is designed to reflect your company’s values and support the well-being of your employees. The Salus Anti-Harassment Strategy creates a healthy, resilient workforce of diverse and active employees who feel valued and supported by your organization.
“I’ve been through many harassment trainings. There’s never been one that’s so specific and actionable.” – Feedback from participant
Another product available for employers through Salus Strategies is VESSA implementation. VESSA, the Victim’s Economic Safety and Security Act, is a Missouri law that allows unpaid leave for employees responding to their experience with domestic and sexual violence. More than just implementation, Salus Strategies goes a step further and helps managers and supervisors develop insight into the nature of domestic and sexual violence and how it might result in performance issues for those they supervise. With this understanding, they can provide better supervision and intervention that can enhance the employee’s ability to do their job and promptly address safety concerns they may have.
The following services are included in the training:
- Management training
- Full workforce training
- Policy and Supervisor toolkit
- Policy review
- Consulting sessions
