Overnight Residential Coordinator

Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of the Shelter Manager, the role of the Residential Coordinators is to provide for the immediate safety, shelter, food and clothing needs for clients in Shelter. Residential Coordinators provide 24/7/365 shelter coverage and hotline response in various shifts.

The guiding principles of this position are defined within the framework of woman-defined advocacy and respect for the individual woman’s needs and goals.

Responsibilities
• Maintain the security of the shelter;
• Provide food and other basic necessities for residents in shelter;
• Provide emergency safety planning for residents and for hotline callers;
• Meet individually with the women and children as required or requested;
• Answer the hotline;
• Dispatch the on-call person as necessary;
• Ensure cleanliness of shelter and immediate grounds;
• Provide assistance with intake and exit process for all shelter residents;
• Provide assistance as requested by the Shelter Manager.

General Duties
• Maintains case files, progress notes, hotline logs, actions plans, and follow-up plans;
• Provide statistical information as required;
• Protects client/survivor and staff and shelter location confidentiality as per MO Revised Statute 455.220.
• Perform other duties as required and requested.

Qualifications:
• Relevant experience or training;
• At least one year of experience working with survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence, preferably within the emergency domestic violence shelter system;
• Sensitivity to the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence;
• Understanding of woman-defined advocacy;
• Ability to work with people of diverse characteristics including, but not limited to, a variety of ethnic, racial, religious and socio-economic backgrounds and nontraditional sexual orientations and gender identities;
• The capacity to remain calm and patient under stressful conditions;
• A valid and current Missouri Driver’s License and insurance;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and child abuse and neglect check;
• Exhibit strong follow through on tasks and goals.
